Spring Anime 2020 Part 2

Hello and welcome to all you beautiful people, here is the second part filled with more upcoming anime for the spring season. Without further ado let’s get into it.

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shite Shimatta…

One day heiress Katerina Claes is hit hard on the head. This triggers a recollection of memories from her past life: a teenage Japanese girl. Before dying the girl remembered playing an otome game she was obsessed with: Fortune Lover. The world of the game resembles the one she’s now living. But she was cast as the villain who tries to foil the protagonists romances. All endings for Katarina end in death or exile. Using her knowledge of the game Katarina must steer the narrative towards the best ending for her. Will Katarina make it to the end or will happily ever after for the protagonist mean her death?

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Roads Lead to Doom! is based on a light novel by Satoru Yamaguchi. Silver Link brings us one of the isekai of the season and it’s one set in an otome. The protagonist probably isn’t in the role they wanted but that’s got to add to the comedy. This is another series that I’ve seen quite a bit of advertising for.

The trailer does make me want to watch it. I see all the tropes of otome games and I think it’s cool how Katarina reacts to them as well. I can tell this is going to be fun because even though she knows what she needs to do she’s still gonna get swept away and fan girl with these boys around. I think fellow otome fans would really enjoy this series. You can find out on April 4th on Crunchyroll.

No Guns Life 2nd Season

Juzo Inui is a mercenary for hire, hunting criminal Extended. People who have had mechanical enhancements added to their body’s. Juzo himself is Over-Extended, someone who’s enhancements go beyond legal limits.

Madhouse’s 2nd Season of No Guns Life arrives on Funimation on April 9th. Those of you who have been waiting for the second season that wait is almost over. If you haven’t watched the first season yet there’s plenty of time for you to get all caught up.

Shin Sakura Taisen the Animation

10 years after the great Demon War it’s time again for the international Combat Revue tournament. The Imperial Combat Revue’s Flower Division in Tokyo must juggle the tournament and the potential of a new demon invasion all while trying to keep their home, the Imperial Theater, open.

Sakura Wars the Animation is adding to an already large multimedia franchise including light novels, manga and video games. Studio Sanzigen brings life to the next instalment in this already well established franchise.

I don’t know how I feel about this one. I think I’d have to watch it to really know. For anyone interested Sakura Wars starts April 3rd Funimation.

Shachou, Battle no Jikan desu!

Shachibato! key art spring anime

Minato is the newest president of Kibo Company and is looking to hire the best employees. With thousands of other companies competing in Gatepia. All looking to possess the most Kirakuri, the energy fundamental for the residents of this world.

Shachibato! President, it’s Time for Battle! From Kadokawa is based on a Japan-exclusive character collecting game where the player is the president of a company who hires people to venture into dungeons.

Looking at the trailer I get a sort of Konosuba vibe from it but with different characters obviously. There’s also this nice hybrid between traditional medieval fantasy and more modern technology. So this is another isekai type thing but we all know if we’re isekai trash or not. There’s enough of them out there. The sub and dub of Shachibato! President, it’s Time for Battle! Starts April 5th on Funimation.

Shironeko Project: Zero Chronicle

Shironeko Project ZERO CHRONICLE Blog Key Art

A group of adventurers discover an island in the sky but one of their own falls into darkness. Heeding the words of their fallen companion they use the sky island to search for the Great Runes.

Animated by Project No 9 Shironeko Project: Zero Chronicle is based on a free to play mobile game. The events of the series are taken from the game’s 3rd anniversary event. Obviously this is another fantasy show. Not gonna lie when I saw the floating island part my mind went to Norn 9 but I’m sure that’s a completely different story to this.

Looks like some epic fight scenes are in store. I can spot elves, demons, angels and the token humans. Honestly all I have to say is that it looks like a fantasy adventure. I can’t say that I can spot anything hugely special but then again I’ve watched quite a few trailers now that are like this. This is another one for all the fantasy action fans out there. Funimation April 6th is when this adventure begins.

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!

Ichinomiya Shingo, an ordinary office worker, goes to sleep one night with thoughts of the working day to come. Only when he wakes up he’s no longer in his room. He’s not even in his own body. He’s inside the body of a 6 year old boy who’s the youngest child of a noble family in hard times. He has no skills that will help the family manage the large amount of land they own but he does possess a very rare talent. Magic. Although his abilities can help the family prosper as they once did so far it’s only brought trouble. Will Wendelin Von Benno Baumeister realise his full potential? Will he be able to save his family?

The 8th son? Are you kidding me? Is another isekai based on a light novel written by Y.A with animation produced by Shin-ei Animation and SynergySP. This is a fantasy adventure that is more than likely appealing to anyone that has been intrigued by other fantasy adventures coming out this season.

I’m not gonna lie at this point things are just starting to look the same to me. It must be how trailers are down. It’s coming down to whether I like the characters now because to me the stories and plots are starting to merge into one. I like fantasy adventures. I do but there are only so many different ways I can describe similar trailers. April 2nd on Crunchyroll is when we can see what the characters are like.

Fugou Keiji: Balance:UNLIMITED

Modern Crimes Prevention Headquarters is a crime division filled only with people who’ve caused the police problems. Detective Daisuke Kambe is very materialistic, opting to use his wealth to solve crimes rather than skills. His partner Haru Kato is the complete opposite, believing that money isn’t everything. Together they must put their differences aside in order to solve the cases they recieve.

Produced by CloverWorks, The Millionaire Detective- Balance: Unlimited is inspired by a novel of the same name written by Yasuraka Tsutsui. Finally something that isn’t an isekai or fantasy based, I can talk about something else. Right off the bat I thought of Psycho Pass with this being a detective show and the main characters being part of an organisation where people who’ve “caused the police problems” work. Clearly this is going to take a different direction but that’s where my mind went first.

The trailer doesn’t give much away but I already want to punch Daisuke Kambe in the face. Several times. Is that a good thing? I don’t know but I do know the dynamic between these two characters is sure to be interesting. There’s a reason completely opposite characters are put together. It gives way to conflict and potential for development. Anyone interested in detective shows and mystery this is one for you. The Millionaire Detective starts April 9th on Funimation.

Nami yo Kiite Kure

wave listen to me anime key art

On a night out drinking Minare Koda ends up spilling the woes of her love life to a radio station worker. Whilst at work the following day she’s shocked to hear her rant airing on the radio. Angered, she storms down to the station only to be tricked by the station director into doing an impromptu talk show. From then on she gets pulled deeper and deeper into the world of radio.

From Sunrise, Wave, Listen to Me! Is based on the manga written by Hiroaki Samura. Another show set in our own world with the promise of comedic hijinks for this season.

So I watched a trailer and it followed the synopsis. Then she was fighting a bear. A bear. I think this is the first trailer that has confused me this season. To go further there was also a scene with aliens. For a show that’s centred around radio broadcasting that is a turn I was not expecting. If anything I want to watch this show because of the bear fight. My curiosity and need to know why is pulling me to watch this series. Wave, Listen to Me! Starts April 3rd on Funimation. I will be watching and finding the truth about the bear.

Kitsutsuki Tantei-Dokoro

At the end of the Meiji Era, in response to a murder case broke poet Ishikawa Takuboku sets up a detective agency he calls Woodpecker Detective’s Office. The agency involves themselves in one bizarre case after another all over Tokyo.

From Liden Films, Woodpecker Detective’s Office is based on a mystery novel by Kei Ii. Two detective series in one season, what a treat. In amongst all the fantasy and isekai we get literary men solving strange cases.

I like my detective shows to have something different about them and I think this one has it. Poets and authors solving crimes is interesting and probably possible if they’re crime writers. From the trailer there’s nothing too outrageous. From one of the scenes I also get the sense there might be a Sherlock Holmes style of explaining the crime. We’ll have to wait till April 13th on Crunchyroll.

In conclusion I’ve done my best to talk about all the anime of the spring season that can be viewed on official streaming sites. Mainly Crunchyroll and Funimation. Both of these sites and Netflix are bound to continue to announce new line ups for the spring season. I can already tell that for the summer season I’m going to change how I cover it. How you may be asking. I don’t know at this time but I’ll figure it out. What anime are you planning on watching this season? Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you all in the next post.
